Misses woven dress: McCalls 8361

Hey y'all! It's National sewing month and I've been sewing my butt off.

This dress is made using Ankara fabric. Although, I've sewed with Ankara many times as a bag maker, this is the first time using it to make a dress or any garment for that matter.

The print is extremely beautiful! You know, this may be the first time I've worn this much purple at once! And I absolutely look stunning in this color, haha. So best believe you'll be seeing more of it on this girl here!

The Dets

Pattern used was McCalls 8361. It was one of the few patterns I threw in my suitcase at the last minute once I decided my sewing machine was coming with me on this deployment.

The fabric was purchased in London at a store the only sold Ankara fabrics.

The Fit

I cut a size 12, making minimal adjustments initially. After constructing the top, I realized it was pretty bit so I cut about an inch from each side. So, it's safe to say I should have cut a 10. The bodice could be a bit more snug in the chest, which I will adjust the next time I make this pattern.

The 411

Absolutely, absolutely, I have plans to make this again. Thinking in a denim next time.

I would certainly recommend this dress. It's the perfect brunch dress. Also, for a special occasion when you want to be just a little sexy since the midriff is exposed.

That's it for this review. It I missed anything, be sure to let me know. Thanks

Schelli
