Misses Dress & Jumpsuit: Simplicity 9597

I've been crushing on this dress for so very long. It has been made by so many, using all different types of fabrics and so many different adjustments. It took me a while to decide what fabric to use, however, I think this may b my best pattern/fabric combo!

THE DETS

The pattern is Simplicity 9597. There are only a few pattern pieces, six in total. Total of fabric pieces cut are about 12 depending on the number of tiers used when making the dress due the the lining on the bodice.

The instructions were extremely easy to follow. Since it is a MiMi G pattern, there is a YouTube tutorial video shot by Norris.

I used a viscose challis fabric purchased from Minerva.

THE FIT

I cut this dress in a size 10 and adjusted the shoulder straps to give the baby doll straps. In addition, I lengthen the back closure so that it would tie to eliminate the need for buttons.

There are many tutorials on YouTube that explains this. However, if you'd like, I can link the video I watched below for your convenience.

THE 411

I loved the simplicity of this pattern. The instructions were simple with only a few steps to follow for completion.

The dress can get a bit heavy due to the amount of fabric needed for gathering on the lower tier. Even with the extended straps in the back, it's kinda difficult to secure. So I can't even imagine how difficult it would be to fasten buttons without help behind my back without assistance.

I would definitely sew this dress again. Next time I'd like to of it in a solid color like green of yellow.

Changes I'd make include shorten the dress and use the straps as designed in the pattern.
